Rob Casey is a character based on an author of the same name. He is a stand-up poet, writer and performer, the official club poet for Exeter City FC and the poetic half of ‘The Least Worst Candidates‘.


Rob is a former ‘Bard of Exeter‘ and frequently hosts spoken word events, including Bridport’s ‘Apothecary‘, which he co-organises, as well as The Lyric Theatre‘s ‘Scratch and Spit’. He also lectures in Creative and Professional Writing and English at Exeter College and is a big fan of Toblerone.

He has won multiple poetry slams, including ‘The Anti-Slam’ (where the worst poet wins!) and has had his work published, exhibited and played across a variety of media.
He has performed at numerous festivals, once instigating a poetry moshpit during his set.
He was commissioned by the BBC to write a poem for Radio Devon as part of National Poetry Day.
He is an award-winning flash fiction writer, actor, screenwriter and film producer.
He is an experienced sports journalist.
He was part of the original steering group who set up ‘SO: To Speak – Southampton’s Festival of Words’.
He has been a local councillor, Chair of The Forster Memorial Institute in Bradpole, and has stood as a local candidate for the Green Party in Dorset.
He has a wide selection of floral shirts but is shit at DIY and anything else that might be considered manly.
